It was weird being with Lager. Not in a bad way. It was actually awesome. After years of mostly one-night stands, being in a relationship was a new experience. She couldn't believe how seamless the transition had been.

It was also new having to go into mom mode whenever she went over to Lager's house. Thankfully, Klaus was an amazingly well-behaved kid who knew how to balance having fun and obeying the rules. She wouldn't know what to do if she had to discipline him for real.

He loved having story time with her since apparently she had the best voices for the characters. The only downside was, when Klaus had a question or wanted to conspire with his dad, they would talk in German. She knew that if their relationship were to continue, she'd need to learn German, if only to keep up and avoid pranks. She’d downloaded a couple of apps on her phone to start learning it, but hadn't had much time to really practice yet. She hoped to pick up a few phrases before Lager came back from his road trip.

She settled in for the night, even though it was only 7:30pm. She got into her jammies and made some popcorn. It was a night to watch whatever movie was on the Hallmark channel. She was in the mood for a good love story.

Her phone rang with the special ringtone for Lager. She smiled. "I didn't think I would hear from you tonight."

"Yeah, we got in earlier than expected."

"You didn't talk to your mini-me first?" She had started to call Klaus that after she heard Lager say it a few times. But it was true, they were perfect peas in a pod with a similar sense of humor, and they looked a lot alike.

"I tried, but there wasn't an answer, so he must be swimming with his mom. Hopefully he's hating it less this week, but I don't see that happening."

She picked up on the slightly disappointed tone that Lager had, despite his trying to put a positive spin on it. She knew that there were two things that Lager loved before all else: his son and hockey. She would have thought she would have been jealous of that set up, but she wasn’t. There was no reason to be jealous since he loved her so much.

She decided to switch up the conversation. "At least I get to hear your sexy voice tonight."

"Yeah. But my voice is nowhere near as sexy as yours."

She giggled. He could be such a charmer and gave it right back to her. "Yeah. You know your voice can literally melt the panties off most women."

He started to laugh. "Oh yeah. I would like to see that."

"Oh, you have such a dirty mind."

"Nah. I'm only dirty for you," he said, laughing. She had a feeling that was true. She knew that up until this season, he’d never even looked at another woman. Even when the guys got super drunk at parties, he never strayed. That was why she was attracted to him: he was loyal.
